Privacy policy

What we collect

• Your email address, when you join the list or the free monthly email.
• Checkout details, when you buy. Payments are handled by Stripe. We receive your name, email address, the plan you bought and whether the payment went through. We never see or store your full card number.
• Messages you send us, such as support email, and our replies.
• Download records: when you download a file, we log the time, your IP address, your browser type and how many downloads that link has used. We use them to keep download links working for you and to detect misuse, and we keep them for 24 months.
• Routine server logs: IP address, browser type and the pages requested, used to keep the site secure and working. The site's typefaces load from Google Fonts, so your browser also contacts Google to fetch them. We run no advertising trackers and no third-party analytics.

What we do with it

We use it to deliver what you asked for: the monthly list you bought, the email you signed up for, and support when you write. We may also use it to keep the service secure, to keep billing and tax records, and to meet legal obligations. Every marketing email carries an unsubscribe link.

We never sell or rent our subscribers' or visitors' personal information.

Who else handles it

Only service providers that help us run FreshFilings: Stripe (payments and billing), Postmark (the emails that deliver your files), our web hosting and email-sending tools, and our email routing and mailbox providers (Cloudflare and Google). They may process your information only to provide their service to us.

The business data we publish and sell

The business registration data in FreshFilings comes from the Michigan Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs (LARA), Corporations Division. Business registrations are public record under Michigan law. The state records each new entity's name, type, filing date, registered-office address and resident agent, and we pass that public record on, with a county added from the address's ZIP code. We don't add phone numbers, email addresses or other information about the people behind a business.

Some small businesses register at the owner's home address, and some resident agents are individuals. That is the state's public record, not something we create, and we can't change it. If you believe an entry about you is wrong, or you'd like us to look at leaving a home address out of future lists, write to [email protected] and we will look at it. Corrections to the record itself have to be made with LARA.

Your choices

You can unsubscribe from any email with its unsubscribe link, or ask us to delete the personal information we hold about you by writing to [email protected]. We may keep records we're required to keep, such as billing and tax records.

Children

FreshFilings is a business service and isn't directed at children.

Changes

If we change this policy we'll post the new version here and update the effective date.
